The accused works at a placement agency and was arrested by the Ravet Police. Police said he had edited and uploaded objectionable images of an acquaintance’s fiancée and mother on multiple websites.
According to officials, the accused and the complainant knew each other and had a dispute over money. After the argument, the accused allegedly created morphed photos and shared them online. He also sent these images to the complainant, his fiancée, and their friends.
Police said the accused then started calling the complainant and demanded ₹5 lakh to remove the content from the websites.
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for extortion, along with sections of the Information Technology Act. During the investigation, police seized the accused’s phone and found the images stored on it.
Officials said the matter appears to be linked to a personal financial dispute. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.
