Hinjewadi, along with six other villages, is set to be included in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area. At the same time, the civic body is planning an international-standard golf club in Moshi for IT professionals, businesspeople, officials, sportspersons and other residents.

Around 61.38 hectares of land in Moshi has been identified for the proposed golf course. The land currently has 10 different reservations, including roads, parking areas and a water reservoir.

A proposal to cancel these existing reservations and create a new reservation for a golf course club has been placed before the PCMC general body for approval.

The proposed expansion of the civic limits will bring Hinjewadi, Maan, Gahunje, Marunji, Jambhe, Nere and Sangawade into the PCMC area. With a large number of IT companies expected to become part of the city, the civic administration believes that international-level facilities will be needed.

Several IT parks are already operating in Talawade, while Hinjewadi has emerged as a major IT hub. Foreign businesspeople, officials and professionals also live and work in the area. The expansion of the metro network is expected to further improve connectivity in the region.

The decision to develop facilities such as a golf club was discussed at a meeting held at the District Collector’s Office on September 15.

The land identified in Moshi is currently vacant and the existing reservations have not been put to use. The proposal states that changing these reservations and developing a golf course could help attract new businesses and investment to the city.

The Moshi area is also seeing several major projects. These include an international convention centre, a court complex, COEP-related development and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. Some projects are already under construction, while others have been proposed.

Under the proposal, the existing 10 reservations covering 61.38 hectares will be cancelled and replaced with a reservation for the golf course club.

The proposal will be presented before the PCMC general body meeting scheduled for October 15.

If the new reservation is approved, objections and suggestions from citizens will be invited. A hearing will then be conducted before the proposal is sent to the state government for final approval. The proposal also seeks to give the municipal commissioner the authority to complete the required process.
