According to the police complaint filed by his son Aryan Shende, Anand left his home around 7:20 am from Milansh Residency in Bhoirwadi. He told his family he was going for his usual walk but did not return.
When he did not come back, the family started looking for him in nearby areas. They searched across Hinjawadi and nearby localities and also contacted relatives, but there was no information about his whereabouts.
After several hours of searching, the family approached the police and filed a complaint at around 3 pm the same day. The family originally belongs to Gondia district.

At the time he went missing, he was wearing a brown checked shirt and black track pants with white stripes. Officials said he was not carrying a mobile phone, which has increased concern for his safety.
