Every monsoon, roads in Hinjewadi, Maan and nearby areas get flooded, causing severe waterlogging and heavy traffic jams. Locals say the same problems return year after year, but ground action remains slow.
Recently, officials from Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, along with public representatives and citizens, visited the area to review monsoon preparedness. During the inspection, directions were given to speed up drain cleaning, road repairs and other pre-monsoon works.
However, many residents say such inspections have happened several times in the past, with little change on the ground.
Officials from multiple agencies, including PMRDA, MIDC, PWD and local civic bodies, have previously made similar promises. Senior leaders have also visited the area and ordered urgent action, but several key projects are still incomplete.
Among the pending works are stormwater drainage near Nande Chowk, road widening at Laxmi Chowk and the Kolte Patil road stretch, and poor road conditions in the Nere-Dattwadi-Jambe belt.
IT employees say better coordination between departments is urgently needed. They believe the lack of planning and execution has kept Hinjewadi infrastructure under pressure for years.
With monsoon approaching, residents and IT professionals are now demanding visible work on the ground instead of repeated review visits and announcements.
