Hinjewadi Traffic: Thousands of commuters travelling to Hinjewadi IT Park could soon get relief as the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has approved plans to build six new roads to improve connectivity and reduce traffic congestion.

The new road projects are aimed at tackling the growing traffic problems in and around Hinjewadi, one of Pune’s largest IT hubs. The roads are also expected to help reduce the waterlogging that disrupts traffic every monsoon.

Over the past few years, the Hinjewadi, Maan, and Marunji areas have witnessed rapid residential and commercial development. However, the road network has not expanded at the same pace, leading to long traffic jams, especially during peak office hours.

The situation becomes even more difficult during the rainy season, when several roads are flooded after heavy rainfall. Waterlogging often leaves commuters stranded for hours while travelling to and from work.

To address these issues, PMRDA has identified six priority road projects that will improve connectivity across the region. Officials believe the additional roads will help distribute traffic more efficiently, reduce travel time, and improve vehicle movement during the monsoon.

The authority also expects the improved road network to support the area’s growing population and the increasing number of employees working in the IT hub.

The immediate focus will be on completing these road projects so that residents and daily commuters can benefit from smoother traffic flow and better connectivity in the coming years.
