The state government has approved the project and allowed Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation to acquire land for it. The new IT park will come up at Nagewadi in Satara and is expected to create large-scale job opportunities in the region.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting held in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Around 42.55 hectares of government land will be given to MIDC for the project. The land will be acquired at current agricultural rates.
Officials said the project aims to boost the IT sector in Satara and nearby areas. Once completed, companies from the technology sector will be able to set up operations here, giving local youth better access to jobs and business opportunities.
The move is also expected to reduce pressure on Hinjewadi IT Park, which is already facing space and infrastructure challenges due to high demand from companies.
The government has earlier announced plans to develop two more IT parks in the state, including one in Purandar. With the addition of Satara, this will be another major step to expand Maharashtra’s IT network.
Hinjewadi remains one of the biggest IT hubs in the state and contributes heavily to the economy. However, due to limited space and rising demand, there is a need for new hubs to support future growth.
The new Satara project is expected to strengthen the state’s IT sector and support long-term economic growth.
