Pune Metro Line 3: Thousands of IT professionals and daily commuters in Pune are set to benefit from a smart digital ticketing system on the upcoming Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line 3.

The new metro corridor will offer multiple digital ticketing options, allowing passengers to buy tickets within seconds without waiting in long queues at ticket counters.

Commuters will be able to purchase tickets through WhatsApp QR tickets, the official mobile app, Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs), and regular ticket counters. The digital system is expected to make travel faster and more convenient, especially during peak office hours.

Once the integration of all three Pune Metro lines is completed at the District Court station, passengers will be able to use a single mobile app to book tickets for seamless travel across the entire Pune Metro network.

The metro line will also support the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) from the very beginning under the Centre’s ‘One Nation, One Card’ initiative.

Using the same card, passengers will be able to travel on Pune Metro Lines 1, 2, and 3, as well as metro systems in other cities that support the NCMC, eliminating the need to carry separate metro cards.

The first phase of Metro Line 3 will include 12 stations equipped with an Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system. To manage passenger movement efficiently, each station will have two entry gates, two exit gates, and one dedicated gate for persons with disabilities.

Metro authorities will also introduce a smart queue management system to reduce crowding during busy hours and improve passenger flow.

The new ticketing system is designed to reduce the use of paper tickets, making the service more environmentally friendly. Passengers will be able to make payments using cash, UPI, debit cards, and credit cards.

The digital features are expected to save time and offer a smoother travel experience for thousands of commuters, especially those travelling daily to Hinjewadi IT Park.
