A high-level review meeting was held under Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi to discuss long-term solutions for road development, traffic congestion, land acquisition and other infrastructure issues in Hinjewadi, Maan and Marunji.
Dudi directed officials to speed up the required procedures and start road construction from December 1.
The meeting was held at the district collectorate and attended by MLA Shankar Mandekar, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Abhijit Choudhary, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam and officials from various departments.
The process of appointing consultants for land acquisition, road planning and the tender process for the six roads is in its final stage.
The administration will also guide farmers and landowners on the benefits available to them when their land is acquired for the projects. Officials said the tender process would begin after obtaining consent and advance possession of around 60-70% of the required land.
The administration has set October 15 as the target for completing 60-70% of the land acquisition process. Road construction is then planned to begin from December 1.
Village-level guidance camps will be held in Hinjewadi, Maan and Marunji for farmers and landowners. Officials will explain the land acquisition process, Transferable Development Rights (TDR) policy, rules for residential use within a two-km radius and other benefits available to landowners.
Officials have also been asked to interact directly with residents and address their questions during these camps.
Apart from the six identified roads, the administration will examine two additional routes suggested by local representatives and residents.
Site inspections will be carried out near Wipro Chowk, the Punawale-Marunji connecting road and roads along the canal before deciding on the additional routes.
A proposal to use land along the canal or land under the irrigation department for road development will be prepared by September 30 and sent to the concerned canal board for approval. Officials have been asked to secure the required permission in the first week of October.
The meeting also reviewed sewage and river pollution in Hinjewadi. Builders and IT companies have been directed to properly treat sewage and ensure that untreated wastewater does not enter nearby rivers.
PMRDA has already started the tender process for sewage treatment facilities in some major villages. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) will take action against industrial and residential projects that violate pollution-control rules.
Traffic congestion at major junctions, including Bhumkar Chowk and Ravet, was also discussed. Road widening, pothole repairs and removal of traffic obstructions will be given priority.
Officials will coordinate with traffic police to open required routes for light vehicles. Urgent asphalt resurfacing work will also be taken up.
Water supply issues between the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and PMRDA were discussed along with compensation for land required for road widening.
Collector Jitendra Dudi directed all concerned departments to coordinate and resolve pending issues so that infrastructure projects can move forward without unnecessary delays.
PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Abhijit Choudhary briefed officials about development projects being undertaken by the authority. He said work was being expedited, with priority being given to road development, traffic management and other essential infrastructure projects within the planned timelines.
Officials from various agencies and residents from Hinjewadi, Maan and Marunji attended the meeting.
