A key focus is improving public transport. Data on the travel patterns of employees working in IT companies will be collected company-wise. Based on this information, PMPML will plan new routes and increase bus services in the Hinjewadi area.
The administration is planning to add 20 to 30 buses immediately. Hinjewadi and Chakan will also be given priority among the 500 new buses planned to be added in the future.
A feeder bus service is also being planned to connect metro stations with offices and residential areas. This is expected to make it easier for employees and residents to use the metro for their daily commute.
Six major roads in the Hinjewadi area have been identified for widening on priority. Officials have been asked to complete the required land acquisition process and start the actual work by December 1.
Electricity poles and underground cables that could obstruct the road-widening work will also be shifted. The concerned departments have been asked to prepare estimates for the work.
The administration has also directed officials to complete service road repairs within the next 10 to 15 days.
Power supply in the Hinjewadi area is another issue being addressed. Work on new electricity substations will be expedited. The approval process for proposed substations at Lavale and Mahalunge will be fast-tracked.
Officials have also been asked to make the required land available through advance possession so that the substation projects can move ahead without delays.
The proposed water supply project for the area is also expected to be completed on priority.
Waste management is another major focus. A concrete action plan will be prepared within a month in coordination with the local gram panchayats. A seven-day deadline has been given to establish an effective system for garbage collection from housing societies.
The administration has also decided to improve bus stops, bus shelters and areas around metro stations in Hinjewadi. The locations of new or improved bus stops will be finalised after discussions with local residents and other stakeholders.
Collector Jitendra Dudi said development work in Hinjewadi needs to be carried out in a scientific and planned manner. He said transport, water and electricity infrastructure must be coordinated so that residents and the large IT workforce can get the required facilities without further delay.
MLA Shankar Mandekar, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam and residents from Hinjewadi, Maan and Marunje were present at the meeting.
The administration will regularly review the progress of the work. The next review meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 4 pm.
