Routematic Starts App-Based Bus Service for Over 1.25 Lakh Employees in Hinjawadi

Routematic has launched COCO Rides, a new app-based employee shuttle service in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT hub, aiming to make daily office travel easier for thousands of IT professionals.

The service has been introduced in partnership with the Hinjawadi Industries Association (HIA), with support from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

The company says the shuttle network is expected to serve more than 1.25 lakh employees working across over 80 companies linked to HIA.

As part of the first phase, more than 80 buses have been deployed across 70+ routes with over 500 boarding points. These routes will connect major residential areas in Pune with office locations in Hinjawadi, helping employees with fixed and planned daily travel options.

Routematic said the system has the capacity to handle up to 20,000 commuters every day.

COCO Rides will operate through a fully digital platform. Employees can book seats using a mobile app, choose pickup points, and travel on fixed schedules at fixed fares. However, the service is currently limited to employees of HIA member companies, who must register using their corporate credentials.

The launch comes at a time when Pune is dealing with growing traffic pressure. Reports have highlighted rising congestion levels in the city, especially on routes connecting Pune to Hinjawadi, where thousands of office-goers travel daily.

Routematic said the shuttle service will be backed by a real-time monitoring command system to improve service reliability and maintain smooth operations. The company believes structured transport options like this can offer a better alternative to unplanned carpooling and scattered shuttle services.

With large-scale office commuting becoming a major challenge in Pune, COCO Rides could become an important step toward more organised and efficient employee transport in Hinjawadi.
