On August 6, Dinesh allegedly went to the place where the woman and the other man were present. An argument broke out between them. The situation soon escalated, and Dinesh allegedly picked up an iron rod and struck both of them on the head.
The young man suffered critical injuries and later died. The woman was also badly injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment.
Dinesh reportedly fled from the spot immediately after the incident. Police received information that he had escaped in an Ertiga car towards the Pune-Solapur Highway.
Hinjawadi Police began searching for him and alerted Uruli Kanchan Police after receiving information that he could be heading towards Pandharpur. Police teams then set up a road blockade on the Pune-Solapur Highway and started checking vehicles.
During the checking operation, officers spotted an Ertiga approaching at high speed. The vehicle was stopped and its driver was taken into custody.
The man was identified as Dinesh Zambare, who was wanted in connection with the Hinjawadi murder case. Pune Rural Police detained him and questioned him before handing him over to Hinjawadi Police for further investigation.
Police said Dinesh allegedly admitted to attacking the young woman and killing the man during questioning.
