The revised CNG rates are applicable in Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Talegaon and Hinjewadi. Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has increased the retail price of compressed natural gas by Rs 1.50 per kg.
After the latest hike, the new retail price of CNG has gone up to Rs 92.25 per kg, including taxes.
The company said the decision was taken because of rising natural gas production costs. Higher input costs have pushed fuel prices upward, leading to the latest revision in retail rates.
Despite the increase, MNGL has said that CNG remains a cost-effective fuel option compared to petrol and diesel.
According to current fuel price calculations in Pune, passenger car owners using CNG can still save around 45 percent compared to petrol and nearly 22 percent compared to diesel.
For auto-rickshaw drivers, the savings are estimated at around 24 percent, making CNG a relatively affordable option even after the price hike.
Meanwhile, there is some relief for households, as the company has confirmed that there is no change in PNG rates supplied through domestic pipeline connections.
Consumers in Pune and surrounding areas have been advised to take note of the revised CNG price while planning their fuel expenses.
