Residents of Megapolis Township in Hinjawadi Phase 3 have started a joint campaign demanding immediate action from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) over damaged roads, heavy dust pollution and worsening safety conditions in the area.

The issue mainly affects the road stretch between Megapolis Sparklet Bus Stop and Megapolis Circle, which is used daily by thousands of residents, office-goers and school students.

In a public appeal shared among residents, citizens described the condition of the MIDC road as “critical and unacceptable.” They said potholes, broken footpaths, drainage problems and non-functional street lights have made daily travel difficult and unsafe.

Residents from housing societies such as Sunway, Sparklet, Splendour, Mystic, Sangria and Serenity are among those affected. Students travelling to and from PPS School also use the same road every day.

According to residents, the situation has become worse due to mud and debris falling from construction vehicles linked to multiple real estate projects in the area.

They claimed that the excessive dust pollution is entering homes, parks and common spaces, creating serious health concerns for families and children. Poor visibility caused by dust has also raised safety worries for motorists and pedestrians.

Citizens said several pedestrian pathways have become unusable, increasing the risk for school students, senior citizens and people walking along the stretch.

Residents also alleged that despite repeated complaints to MIDC authorities, no permanent solution has been implemented so far.

As part of the campaign, residents are encouraging people to submit complaints through MIDC’s grievance portal and send emails to senior officials seeking urgent intervention.

Their key demands include complete road resurfacing, repair of footpaths, better drainage systems, regular road cleaning, removal of encroachments and restoration of street lights.

Residents have also demanded strict action against builders and construction vehicles allegedly violating transportation and cleanliness rules.

According to the appeal, the issue is no longer just about poor infrastructure but has now become a serious public health and safety concern affecting more than 25,000 people living in the area.

Citizens are now hoping that large-scale public pressure will push authorities to take immediate steps to improve road conditions and reduce pollution in Hinjawadi Phase 3.
