Police identified the accused as Vijay Madhukar Chavan, aged 24. He has been booked under the POCSO Act.
According to police, the incident took place on Wednesday evening when two young girls were playing in the society’s play area. The guard, who was on duty at the time, reportedly called them over.
It is alleged that he behaved inappropriately with one of the girls. Though the child was scared, she managed to leave the spot and went home, where she informed her parents about what had happened.
After learning about the incident, the girl’s family immediately approached the police and filed a complaint.
Taking the matter seriously, Hinjewadi police started an investigation without delay. Later that night, a team conducted a raid and arrested the accused within a few hours.
Police said further investigation is underway.
