Wakad-Hinjawadi Link Road Nears Opening, Big Relief for Traffic Soon

A key road project in Pune is close to completion and is expected to bring relief to daily commuters. The Wakad-Hinjawadi link road is likely to open for public use within the next 10 to 12 days. The new road connects Utkarsh Chowk on Datt Mandir Road to the highway. It passes through areas like Eden Tower and Vedant Society and reaches the underpass near Tip Top Hotel. This connection is expected to improve access between Wakad and the highway. The project is part of a 100-day plan led by local corporator Rahul Tanaji Kalate. Under this plan, work on several pending infrastructure projects has been pushed forward. So far, three missing link roads have already been opened. Wakad has been facing heavy traffic congestion for years due to rapid development and limited road connectivity. To solve this, priority was given to completing missing road links in the area. Work on this road picked up speed after an anti-encroachment drive cleared the way. Officials said the original plan was for a wider 18-metre road. However, a 9-metre road was built first to provide quicker relief to commuters. Kalate recently visited the site along with civic officials to check the progress. He also asked authorities to complete pending footpath work in nearby areas as soon as possible, while maintaining quality. Once opened, the road is expected to improve daily travel, reduce congestion and offer smoother movement for residents. It will also strengthen connectivity between Wakad and nearby IT hubs. Kalate said the project is one of the key promises completed within his first 100 days in office. He also appealed to citizens to follow traffic and parking rules to ensure smooth flow. Further work is planned to improve infrastructure in Wakad, Tathawade and Punawale in the coming months.
