23-Year-Old Engineer Dies in Hinjewadi Crash, Truck Violated Ban

Hinjewadi, Pune: A tragic accident in Hinjewadi has claimed the life of a 23-year-old software engineer, raising serious concerns about road safety in the area.

The victim, Yash Ravindra Kumbhare, was working in an IT company in Hinjewadi and originally belonged to Nagpur. The accident took place on April 11 at around 6:30 pm on Maan Road.

According to police, a truck crashed into his scooter, leaving him with severe injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

What has made the incident more worrying is that the truck was moving during restricted hours. As per traffic rules in Pimpri Chinchwad, heavy vehicles are not allowed on these roads between 8 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 9 pm.

Police confirmed that the driver ignored these rules and was on the road during the banned time, which led to the fatal crash.

After the incident, Hinjewadi police registered a case against the driver. The accused, a 46-year-old man from Mumbai, has been arrested. He has been booked under serious charges, including culpable homicide, along with sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.

These time restrictions were introduced earlier after several accidents involving heavy vehicles in Hinjewadi and nearby areas. The aim was to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety, especially for IT employees who travel during peak hours.

However, violations continue despite the rules. Many residents and office-goers have complained about heavy vehicles entering restricted zones, putting lives at risk.

This incident has once again highlighted a major issue in Hinjewadi. While rules are in place, proper enforcement remains a challenge.

With Hinjewadi growing rapidly as an IT hub, experts say there is a need for stricter monitoring, better checks, and stronger action against violators to prevent such fatal accidents in the future.
