Hinjewadi, Pune: A heated argument between two acquaintances turned violent in Hinjawadi, leaving a 27-year-old IT engineer injured after being struck on the head with a beer bottle. The accused, a Nepal native, was arrested from Mumbai while allegedly attempting to flee to his home country.

The incident took place on Saturday and came to light after the victim, Abhinav Pathak, a resident of Hinjawadi, filed a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station. Police have identified the accused as 30-year-old Milan Sahu, also a Hinjawadi resident.

According to officials, Pathak and Sahu knew each other and had a dispute earlier on Saturday afternoon over unspecified reasons. Later that night, Sahu allegedly approached Pathak at Pandav Nagar in Hinjawadi, where he was sitting with friends. The two resumed their quarrel, and despite friends’ attempts to calm them down, tensions escalated.

In a fit of rage, Sahu allegedly smashed a beer bottle on Pathak’s head. The victim sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

Police launched a search operation after the attack. Acting on a tip-off, a team intercepted Sahu in Kalyan, near Mumbai, on Sunday, just as he was preparing to travel towards Nepal.

Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare confirmed the arrest, stating, “The accused was arrested in Kalyan and produced before the court, which granted four days of police custody. Further investigation is underway.”
