Hinjewadi New Flyover: A Step Toward Smoother Traffic Flow

Traffic congestion has long been a major issue in Hinjewadi, especially in the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park area. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has initiated several infrastructure projects to tackle these challenges. Among these, the Hinjewadi New Flyover stands out as a key project aimed at easing daily commutes.

Flyover to Reduce Traffic Jams

The new flyover at Laxmi Chowk is expected to significantly reduce traffic jams in the area. This four-lane flyover, spanning 720 meters, is being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹40 crore. The tender process for this project is nearly complete, and construction work will begin shortly. This flyover is designed to address the bottleneck caused by frequent traffic jams at Laxmi Chowk, making travel faster and more efficient for commuters.

Road Widening Projects

MIDC has also planned to widen the road between Chhatrapati Shivaji Chowk and the crematorium in Hinjewadi. This 900-meter stretch will be expanded into a six-lane road at a cost of ₹24.74 crore. The wider road will help manage the increasing number of vehicles traveling through this busy area.

Connecting Phases of Hinjewadi IT Park

Another significant project is a new 5-kilometer road that will connect Phase 1 to Phase 3 of the IT Park. This road is estimated to cost ₹584.14 crore. The necessary land is already with the public works department, and any additional land required will be acquired soon. Once the land acquisition process is complete, construction will begin without delay.

Six-Lane Baner-Hinjewadi Road

A six-lane road connecting Baner directly to the IT Park is another major project under development. Out of the total 5.75 kilometers, 2.5 kilometers have already been completed. The remaining 3.25 kilometers will be built after the Pune Metro Region Development Authority (PMRDA) approves the Town Planning Scheme (TP Scheme).

Enhanced Security with CCTV Cameras

To ensure safety within the IT Park, 300 CCTV cameras are being installed. So far, 280 cameras have already been set up, and the remaining installations will be completed soon. These cameras will help monitor the area effectively and enhance security for all residents and commuters.

Government’s Commitment to Improvement

Industries Minister Uday Samant has instructed the MIDC to expedite these infrastructure projects. A recent meeting with the Hinjewadi Industries Association (HIA) highlighted 17 key issues, including traffic congestion, solid waste management, electricity shortages, and high housing costs. The government is actively working to address these concerns and improve the overall quality of life in Hinjewadi.

Hinjewadi New Flyover and Road Upgrades to Ease Commuting

The Hinjewadi New Flyover and other infrastructure projects are set to transform commuting in the area. With reduced traffic congestion, better roads, and enhanced security, these developments aim to make Hinjewadi more accessible and efficient for both residents and IT professionals. As these projects progress, they will contribute significantly to the growth and development of this bustling IT hub.
